SPORTSMENS EXPO FOR LIFE

The Sportsmen’s Expo for Life was formed when Gene Hall, Jr. and Bill Baker went to a wild game supper in Richmond, VA at the Clover Hill Assembly of God to hear speaker Lee McBride. We were both very impressed with the event and immediately felt that God was leading us to do an event like this in Red Oak, VA. Thus, the Sportsmen’s Expo for Life committee was formed. The idea behind this name was that all of the “rednecks” in this area like to hunt and fish. Bill and Gene started thinking that we have many friends that don’t know Christ and by bringing them together with the Expo and then having someone tell them about the mission of Christ that we could truly make a difference in this community. We then formed our mission statement which is based on Genesis 1: 28.

 

“God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground”

 

The Sportsmen’s Expo for Life wanted to as a group to subdue the world and do what Jesus told us to do in Matthew 28: 19-20.

 

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”

 

We feel that with each event if only one person gives themselves to the Lord, then we have done our job and this event and ministry is worth it all. We would like to eventually grow our event to a 3 day event that would be held over a weekend. We would also like to build additional buildings in this area to house the event. We envision one building that will seat 3000-5000 people, a building that can house all of our many vendors and lastly a banquet hall. Our ultimate dream is to take this world wide and spread God’s word to all people and help others get to know Christ. We know that we are all busy and struggling with life, but we truly believe that if you put God first in every part of your life, he will give you the desires of your heart and the rest of your life will fall into place. Join us as we pray together for many successful events to come so that everyone may come to know Jesus Christ.
